ACADEMIC (QUIZ) BOWL
Advisor: Jeff Gillis Purpose: The Academic Bowl Team provides an opportunity for academically gifted students to demonstrate their knowledge in competition with the best and the brightest from other schools. There is weekly practice for the Varsity and Junior Varsity teams.

Buford Band of Wolves
Advisors: Erik Mason & Bridget Wildes Purpose: The Buford Band of Wolves is a co-curricular activity for students enrolled in band classes. The band performs at all football games and competes multiple times in the fall. Students work to further refine their musical skills while also learning the tenets of excellence, commitment, and pride. Color guard is also a part of the marching band and open to all students. Registration for the marching band and auditions for color guard are held in April of each year.

Advisor: Leah Curtright Purpose: The Beta Club is a club that promotes character, service and leadership, rewards students’ excellent academic achievement, and encourages students to continue their educations after high school.

BOOK CLUB

Purpose: The Buford High School Book Club seeks to promote and celebrate reading for pleasure. All students are welcome to come and share in meaningful and lighthearted conversation over a common text. The BHS Book Club will meet monthly to discuss, suggest, and revel in exciting literature.

Advisor: Callie Shoemaker, Bethany Phillips Purpose: BSLT is a faculty-selected group that undergoes intense training to produce influential leaders. In turn, the students lead their peers to success through positive reinforcement and constructive criticism.

NEWSPAPER CLUB
Advisor: Jennifer Pinkerton The student newspaper club is a group of students dedicated to researching, writing, and publishing articles that highlight events, achievements, and issues relevant to our school community. Members of the club collaborate on various roles, including reporting, editing, design, and photography, fostering teamwork and communication skills. DIVERSITY CLUB
Advisor: Dale Tyson & Tamekia Bradshaw Purpose: The Diversity Club is open to all BHS students. Students will have opportunities to participate in activities to learn about the importance of accepting and appreciating diversity. The ultimate goal is to improve awareness of diverse issues while making a positive impact on the school, district and community.

Purpose: The National Honor Society (NHS) is an academic honor society for 11th and 12th grade students committed to the values of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Members must have an unrounded academic percent of 95.0 or higher and are invited to join during the fall of their junior year. Students in NHS organize and conduct student-led projects to serve our community.

Advisor: Nick Beshiri, Kateria Bogans, Casey Laws Purpose: SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. SkillsUSA helps each student excel. We provide educational programs, events and competitions that support career and technical education (CTE) in the nation’s classrooms. This club participates in local community service and regional, state and national competitions.

TRI-M MUSIC SOCIETY
Advisor: Bridget Wildes & Taylor Greer Purpose: Tri-M is a national music honor society for student musicians at Buford High School, organized through the National Association for Music Education. Being a member of the Buford Tri-M chapter allows students to perform for and serve the community, while gaining valuable leadership experience, and the opportunity to apply for national music scholarships. Students must be currently enrolled in a band, chorus or orchestra class and maintain a 3.5 Fine Arts GPA. Students are eligible after they complete the first year of a pathway in the high school music program.
